    DOCUMENTS - INTRODUCTION

Any non interactive document, is considered a document. They may be reports, lists, or summaries on screen. A document is therefore a collection of data presented properly. Documents may be targeted to the screen itself, or a pipe, either a file, a serial port or a port of another type, such as a printer parallel port.
In all cases the impression is text, so that the receiving device must support this type of data. The destination files when you select this output will always be pure text, including PDF, which meet the specifications of this type of format, but only contain text (can contain a header, or logo, but this data will be fixed).
When we wish to direct printing, we print to an LPT port, either real or virtual. This therefore allows printers to print on USB, but must be configured as LPTx as capture printer port to the network resource previously shared. However, for direct print, printers must support low-level printing, so you can not print directly to GDI (Graphical Device Interface) printers or Win Printers. In these cases, the impression must be made via PDF or txt, using acroread or texteditor to print.
The documents are set up as templates for later use from any utility of printing, either DOC$, from screen or REPORT from scripts.
